BITTEN COP NABS NIPPED CAT
LEICESTER - Straight-faced and with very little comment, selectmen last night voted unanimously to approve what was probably the most unusual injured-on-duty report ever received from Police Chief Russell J. Drake.
A memorandum accompanying the report read as follows:
“Enclosed please find a copy of an Injured on Duty Report for Officer Jeffrey Tebo who sustained a vicious attack from a cat on March 20, 1990, at approximately 11:00 p.m.
“Myself, Officer Tebo and other members of the Delta Task Force were executing a search warrant for narcotics when apparently Officer Tebo moved to (sic) close to the Kitty Litter Box at which time the feline flipped out and attacked Officer Tebo biting him on the hand puncturing same. Future investigation revealed that the suspect was under the influence of cocaine, the cat was under the influence of Cat Nip. Two ounces of pure uncut Cat Nip was seized as evidence.
“Officer Tebo was treated at St. Vincent’s Hospital and released. No leave requested, I.O.D. forms and insurance form have been completed.”
